Solitude Estate

Single Vineyard Yarra Valley

Region: Yarra Valley, Victoria

The name Solitude Estate comes from the vast grazing run that covered a large expanse of the upper Yarra Valley in the mid 1880s. The current family owned and run vineyard is situated on a series of ridges and slopes at Yellingbo, on one of the last remaining tracts of the original Solitude. The property was purchased by the Kerr family in 1967, and in 1996 son Greg Kerr established the vineyard, planting the first vines. Solitude Estate now comprises about 80 acres, planted mostly to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz.

The Solitude wines are 100% estate grown, single vineyard, and made the traditional way, with minimal intervention. The focus being to produce premium wines in small batches that truly express their natural character, unique terroir and temperate climate of the Upper Yarra.
