About Capito Wines

Capito Wines is Melbourne based wine agency representing small batch, high quality, family owned Australian vineyards producing wines that are characterised by remarkable taste, craftmanship and provenance.

Capito Wines was established by Andrea Neilson in late 2011.

Having completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree at The University of Melbourne, followed by roles in shipping and almost 10 years with the Australian Trade Commission, Andrea decided it was time for a career change. Having always been passionate about all things vinous, she made her foray into the wine industry in 2008, joining Twelve Bottles, an Italian wine importer and wholesaler. Fast forward three years, and loving her work, Andrea decided it was time to go out on her own. ‘I wanted to select myself the vineyards to represent – small but high quality family owned Australian vineyards that I believed in – with integrity and a story to tell. Small batch wineries who did not yet have a footprint here and who would be overlooked in big portfolios’ – and hence Capito Wines was born.
